We are now growing Saddle Back cross pigs on the farm in our wild woodland. We have got two Kune Kune sows and also a Gloucester Old Spot sow. Henry, our boar has his own domain and the ladies go to visit him every now and again. The pigs eat a varied diet of roots and grasses along with a low protein nut supplemented with fruit and veg that has gone past its sell by date.

The pigs live a very natural and totally outdoor lifestyle, living in little huts for total privacy when farrowing and the piglets spend as long as possible with Mum before weaning. Our pigs grow slowly and in the ideal environment, slow growth is imperative for good conformation and we are have lots of space for them to enjoy.

When the time comes ,we are lucky to have an abattoir nearby which allows us to use our own transport . We feel it is essential for our livestock to be as stress free as possible when travelling and as such we minimise the risk of tainting the meat with hormones. With Henry and the girls we feel we have got a very good cross bred pig to produce the perfect yummy pork.
